About Plas Gwyn

Plas Gwyn suits travellers after a quiet base with a bit of period character, rather than a slick modern hotel. This stone Georgian house on Cader Road in Dolgellau has kept its original features through into the guest rooms, giving the place a settled, homely feel rather than a corporate one.

Rooms come with drinks provided and free Wi-Fi, and there's a restaurant and bar on site for evenings when you'd rather not go out. Breakfast is included, and the garden gives a spot to sit outside. Practical extras include free on-site parking, luggage storage, concierge services and even a small on-site gym, plus the house takes on weddings for those planning a celebration in the area.

Dolgellau itself sits within reach of the National White Water Centre, making Plas Gwyn a sensible choice for anyone combining paddling or walking days with a comfortable place to return to, and there are further pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby for evenings out.

We've had a very happy time staying in one of Plas Gwyn's holiday cottages for a few days. It's a comfortable and lovely place, well kitted out, and has plenty of space for five adults. Great position too for stunning walks.

Have you ever been on vacation and your accommodation is just an unremarkable place to sleep? Not Plas Gwyn. I'd give them 20 stars if I could. We were 4 plus 2 dogs and 2 of us stayed in the B&B while the rest stayed in a lovely cottage at the back. From the moment you set foot in either the main house or the cottage you feel like you entered a period movie. Jan and Julie not only are remarkable people, but their attention to detail is unparalleled. While we went for a weekend escapade, I certainly regret not having a spare day to enjoy the cottage in front of the fire. Location wise, Plas Gwyn is located in Dolgellau, a beautiful small town in the North of Wales. Snowdonia National Park is within a small distance by car. Though petit, it had very good options of food, Julie was super kind in guiding us to the best places. Breakfast is served for the B&B guests in principle, but Jan and Julie were so kind as to accommodate us 4 for breakfast at their wonderfully decorated dining room. Our dogs felt at home at the cottage, nothing like a beautiful pet friendly place to stay, and at the end of long walking days they loved cuddling in the cottage living room in front of the fire.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights this August and we had a most comfortable stay. The hosts are welcoming and have great knowledge and recommendations in the area. The Welsh cakes and fudge were lovely touches every day and they were very accommodating at breakfast, providing plenty of tasty options. I would highly recommend if you are staying in Dolgellau, great location to explore snowdonia
