Dolgellau sits on the edge of Eryri National Park, medieval town square at its heart, surrounded by the mountains and moorland that make Snowdonia a destination. Cysgod Idris occupies a quiet lane off this square—close enough to reach the independent shops, pubs and restaurants without the noise, far enough back to feel removed. The cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms: a double on the top floor and two singles above it, sharing one shower room between them.
Ground floor is an open-plan living and dining space with a wood burner in a traditional fireplace, a smart TV, and a back kitchen equipped for proper cooking rather than holiday scrambling. Essentials like heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included; one bag of logs gets you started with the burner. A cellar stores bikes and outdoor gear. One dog can come along.
The Mawddach Trail—following the old railway line toward the coast—begins 150 yards away on foot or bike. From here, Barmouth's beaches are reachable in 15 minutes, Cadair Idris for mountain walking in similar time, and Coed y Brenin for cycling trails nearby. The cottage does not permit smoking inside.
