About Howard's Wood
Tucked into a peaceful pocket of Dorset woodland near Bridport, Howard's Wood offers proper back-to-basics camping on forest-floor pitches where campfires crackle and wildlife rustles through the trees. It's a small, wild setup—composting loos, a shower, and not much else—so come prepared for a genuinely remote feel, though the pub, shop, and coast are all close enough when you need them. Pitches start from around a tenner a night, and the site welcomes tents, campervans, trailer tents, dogs, cyclists, and walkers year-round.
Perfect for those who want to disappear into the Dorset countryside without straying too far from civilisation, it's an honest, no-frills escape that lets the landscape do the talking.

What visitors say
This was our first time staying here and our first trip in our little camper van, we found Steph to be extremely helpful in trying to find them with all the road closures and diversions but we got there in the end, we found it to be a very pleasant site exactly what we were looking for in a campsite s wild camping ax it can be, there were toilets onsite and a shower which was nice and hot, we had our 2 little dogs and they loved ghe freedom of all the walks, we were tucked up nicely just out the way which was perfect for us, it was nice that Steph took time out to come and visit us and have a chat, we loved it that much we booked to go back while we were there for the 5 nights over the Bank Holiday, it's great that you can have a bbq or camp fire just not on this visit due to the government ban due to the heatwave, highly recommend if you want back to basic peaceful camping 5* from us

Lovely natural campsite to completely get away from it all. Great shaded private pitches in the woods with compost toilets, hot showers and a small kitchen. Close to Bridport and great beaches. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend.

A real gem of West Dorset! Love this campsite, 2nd time here and we'll be back. You really feel like you're immersed in nature but with the luxury of a compost toilet and hot water in the kitchen area and hot powerful showers. Steph is the perfect host, friendly and helpful from booking to departure. You have your own little enclosure in the woods, so plenty of space and privacy, different pitch sizes according to the size of your tent and family/group. Plenty of places to visit nearby and Netherbury itself is a pretty little village and has a pub with food, within walking distance.

Love, love love this campsite! If you like a natural, peaceful vibe without unnecessary megafacilities or electric hookup, this is your campsite. There are compost loos, a kitchen with hot water and a couple of showers so you won't be living in filth while you stay. The location is great for Bridport, the beaches etc and Steph is super friendly and helpful. Stayed in a campervan with our dog and the local sheep, owls and dragonflies for company. We'll be back again and again. Thanks Steph
