Korkhouse Cabin offers a genuinely off-grid escape near Gillingham, combining solar power with a touch of Japanese-inspired luxury in the form of an outdoor bath. This adult-only retreat keeps things beautifully simple – you'll find proper showers, toilets and drinking water, plus WiFi when you need it, but the real draw is the quiet, back-to-basics atmosphere. Open year-round, it's well-placed for exploring both Dorset and neighbouring Somerset, with the foodie town of Bruton just twenty minutes away.

Note that dogs aren't permitted, so it's one to leave the four-legged friends at home. If you're after a peaceful, grown-up break with a dash of outdoor bathing ritual, this makes for an excellent rural bolt-hole.

A little gem. The privacy, of the site, was a blessing. The accommodation is well stocked and the fire pit area was excellent to cook at. The 'sharp' kitchen knife was welcome, as was the BBQ box. An inside-outside area, or porch would be handy, as outdoor footwear isn't allowed in the hut (petty critiscism, I know, but getting your shoes off, with the heavens opening would be a faff). We were very lucky with the weather. A 30 minute walk to a quality pub, The Dog House, for an absolute first rate Sunday lunch. The same distance away is the Old Brewery Cafe and Kitchen. A great breakfast to be had. Would I go again? Without a shadow of a doubt. Would I recommended this to my friends? Yes, I totally would👍🏽👍🏽

Spent a weekend there with my girlfriend. She absolutely loved it. We both couldn't be happier with how it went. Super charming, romantic and cute place to stay. Great mix of warm and welcoming inside with a beautiful nature filled outside area. It's really well located and you don't need your own car to get there, there are trains from london in under 2 hours. We took our bikes on the train from london and biked there from the station which was super quick and easy. Hosts were also super nice and welcoming! Thanks again!!

Had an absolutely gorgeous stay at the Korkhouse, it’s such a great space to cosy up in. The hosts were really helpful and communicative and I would really recommend a stay!
