Sturminster Retreats - The Lodge

Hinton St Mary is a quiet Dorset village set among rolling countryside, with a 12th-century church and the remains of a Roman mosaic among its historical landmarks. The Lodge occupies what was once a gatehouse to a country estate, built in 1900 and since restored to combine period features—mullion windows, original fireplaces, preserved flooring—with up-to-date facilities.
The property sleeps four across two bedrooms: a king on the ground floor and a zip-and-link super king upstairs that can be split into singles if preferred. Downstairs holds the living room with a wood burner, separate dining room, and a shower room with heated towel rail. The kitchen is equipped for full self-catering, with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen, towels and initial fuel for the burner are included. A walled garden provides private outdoor space with seating, and there is parking for two cars on site.
The gatehouse suits families and small groups wanting a self-contained retreat, though a travel cot and highchair can be arranged on request. One well-behaved pet is welcome. No smoking inside.
