Woodbrook Cottage is a detached house constructed in 2002 using Bothenhampton stone, standing in the village between quiet countryside and the Dorset coast. Built to last, the property combines period character with modern convenience—original features sit alongside contemporary comforts like smart televisions and a wood-burning stove, while the kitchen holds two dishwashers, an American-style fridge-freezer and a substantial farmhouse table for gatherings.
The layout spreads across two floors. Downstairs offers a sitting room with French doors opening onto an enclosed courtyard, a kitchen-diner, utility room with washer and tumble dryer, shower room and separate toilet. Upstairs are four bedrooms (one with a four-poster bed, three others arranged as doubles or singles) and a bathroom with bath and shower. The property sleeps nine and comes with Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels. One pet stays free. Parking accommodates three cars, and initial logs for the wood burner are provided.
Bothenhampton sits a mile from Bridport's beaches and has the Old Church nearby. The cottage suits families, groups or anyone wanting space without the fuss of a hotel. No smoking inside.

Thoroughly disatisfied with this place. We actually left on the first morning after finding the silliest set of rules for a 'dog friendly' cottage we've ever seen. The main problem was that the owner prohibited the use of the enclosed garden for anything other than 'exercise' - anyone who owns a dog knows that first thing in the morning and last thing at night you let your dog out to do their business. We would obviously clean-upo after them. They also wouldn't let you leave your dog, we had an anniversary meal booked which would have meant leaving our dogs for a couple of hours at most, which is no problem for them. We felt ill at ease in the house, even though the decor was of a very high standard. So we packed and left the very next morning. We have stayed at numerous dog friendly cottages in around West Bay/Bridport for years, but will stick to more accomodating owners in future.

I would love to know the history as I googled my ancestors home and it took me here did this used to be 111 Hyde cottages, Bothenhampton/Bridport? Or were they knocked down and rebuilt? Original property would have had 2 adults 8 children living there

Had an amazing stay! The hosts are so welcoming and the area is to die for. You can’t miss this in your Mayo itinerary.

A large, lovely modern cottage with a fair few rooms for family and friends to stay together. The living room is really cosy, the kitchen is great for both self-catering and enjoying meals together and there's enough bathrooms and bedrooms for everyone.
