What visitors say
Very pleasant experience aboard the steam railway, carriages, engine and stations very clean and well maintained. Enjoyable ride to the end of the line and back. Recommend that you buy the day rover ticket which also gives access to the tramway, horse tram and public bus services as it's very good value.

Although not real public transport, it is an amazing view into the islands history. As well as a amazing view into the history of rail travel as a whole. although the schedule is tight and can be difficult to get return trips without using the bus service.

An excellent experience on this staple of the Isle of Man. We really enjoyed the trip to Port Erin and was pretty pleased with the cost. We opted for the Go Explorer tickets that also have us travel on the Steam Train as well as other public transport options. A great day in a beautiful place.

A bautiful train ride. The Isle of Man Steam Railway is a real gem. From the moment the steam engine arrives, you feel transported back to the Victorian era. The carriages are beautifully preserved, the staff are welcoming, and the journey takes you through stunning countryside and coastal scenery. The line runs from Douglas to Port Erin with 11 charming stops along the way, including Castletown and Port St Mary. It’s not the fastest way to travel, but it’s certainly the most memorable. A must do experience when visiting the Isle of Man!
