Headland

Photo: Headland Cottage

Headland sits on the clifftop at St Margarets Bay, where ground-floor accommodation opens directly onto a courtyard facing Pines Garden. The beach lies just below, accessible within a short walk and revealing rock pools and sandy stretches at low tide. Two bedrooms sleep four: a double and a single, with a pull-out single bed for flexibility. The open-plan living space contains a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—oven, dishwasher, washing machine—and a separate dining and sitting area with television. A shower room and courtyard with garden furniture complete the setup.

The location works equally for families and couples wanting to explore on foot. Coastal walks stretch in both directions along the cliffs; Pines Garden opposite offers six acres to wander, with an organic kitchen garden and tea rooms. The South Foreland Lighthouse and various pubs are within reasonable walking distance. Bed linen, towels, heating and Wi-Fi come as standard. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The property is yours alone, with private parking on the road and a bike store if you want to range further afield. No smoking indoors.

Lovely place to stay! The cottage is cozy, clean, and very well maintained. The location is beautiful and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Everything was well organised, and we had a great overall experience. Would definitely recommend!

Our little holiday just before Christmas was just what we wanted. Beautiful, clean and comfortably spacious apartment, tranquil environment very close to the sea and spectacular long walks on the cliffs. We came back recharged and will return in a couple of months, to see what it looks like when it’s hotter. It now became our place to go in Kent! Thank you lovely hosts for all detailed info about shops, activities, restaurants, before our arrival.

Great place to stay if you want a quiet weekend away from London. Really enjoyed hiking along the famous White Cliffs of Dover nearby, and getting some tea to take in the beautiful views by the lighthouse. The hosts were friendly and helpful.

We spent a few special days at Headland Cottage together with our 2 kids.. Where to begin? That Ian Fleming wrote his books a hopskotch away down at the beach? That we walked along the cliffs at night hearing the waves wash up against the cliff edge, see the glitter of lights of Frebch houses across the channel and such bright stars looking don at us. does it get more idyllic and dramatic and romantic anywhere else? St Margaret's is just so special And then there is the loveliest host Masha and her family who were so helpful and our home which was spotlessly clean, featured soft towels and was just so lovingly cared for. Truly, we have been around AirBnB a lot. This is a really good one and the surroundings are a jewel in the garden of England.
