The Dovecote – Gamekeeper's Cottage is a converted estate building surrounded by high stone walls that enclose a private third-of-an-acre garden. Built around 1750 as part of the Groves Estate, the cottage sits entirely on the ground floor: a combined living and dining space with wood-burning stove, a kitchen fitted in 2021, a double bedroom, and a shower room. Parking for one car is on site, and the walled garden has seating and a barbecue.
The garden is genuinely sheltered and south-facing, planted with mature trees including a fig, and designed as a completely private retreat. Inside, heating and electricity are covered, along with bed linen, towels and WiFi. The cottage suits two people looking for a quiet break. It is not suitable for guests with mobility difficulties. Staple village has a pub and restaurant; Sandwich, Wingham and Canterbury lie within easy reach by car, as do several beaches including Broadstairs and Ramsgate. The Eurotunnel and ferry ports at Dover and Folkestone are nearby.
