What visitors say
Cool castle. Spiral staircases in turrets. Great hall. Lots of interesting features, like built in bed and wardrobe, arrow holes in the shape of playing card suits. Staff on duty was efficient but not friendly. No gift shop. We walked from town and it was a bit treacherous crossing a very busy road. In the return walk we realized we should have crossed in a spot where there was a light and crosswalk but we didn’t find that on the way to it. Near the water which is cool for views.

Impressive historic building with plenty of character. It’s really well preserved and gives a great sense of its past. Set right by the river, which adds to the atmosphere. Worth a visit if you’re in the area

Nice plase, has a jetty to launch jetski or small boat. Castle would be nicer if not next to an industrual site.

Beautiful castle, though suffering from HES lack of funds. Great storytelling on the boards inside, a grim, terrible history. Worth reading every word.
