Dornock Brow Cottage
Dumfries and Galloway
View on Google MapsThe Solway Firth curves along the coast near Dumfries and Galloway, and Dornock Brow Cottage sits where the landscape slopes toward the water. Built in 1740, this single-storey property stands on ground that descends to the estuary itself, placing you on the edge of a tidal landscape that shifts between mud, salt marsh and open water depending on the season. You can see across to the Cumbrian hills beyond.
Everything happens on one floor. The main living space is open-plan, with a sitting area, dining room and kitchen flowing together, and French doors opening onto the garden. Beyond that is a sun room. There are four bedrooms—a kingsize, a double, and two singles—and two bathrooms with showers. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking: electric oven and hob, dishwasher, and separate utility space with washing machine. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and heating are all included; bring your own towels. One dog or cat is welcome at no extra cost, and there is parking for three cars on site.
This works as a base for the south-west Scottish coast, the Solway region, or as a jumping-off point for the Lake District and Borders—or simply to stay put and walk the foreshore or the hills behind the property. No smoking is permitted inside.
