Drumlanrig Castle - Slatehouse Cottage

Drumlanrig Castle estate stretches across parkland worth exploring on foot, and the castle itself—with its grand approach and collections—sits just half a mile away. The wider region offers walking through moorland and forest, fishing on the River Nith, and the market town of Dumfries a short drive off. Slatehouse Cottage sits within the grounds as a standalone property, renovated and furnished throughout, with parking for three cars and gates to enclose the garden.

The cottage is single-storey and open-plan. Four bedrooms sleep eight: one kingsize with its own ensuite, one zip-and-link kingsize (split into twin beds on request), and two doubles. The second bathroom has a slipper bath and walk-in shower. The main living space combines kitchen, dining and sitting areas around a woodburner, with a large smart TV for downtime. The kitchen is fitted for cooking and entertaining—oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer all standard. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and logs for the burner are included in the rental. Wi-Fi runs throughout.

Outside, a private hot tub sits in the garden, which has furniture and a sitting-out area. One dog is welcome and stays free; keep it on lead as sheep graze in the grounds. No smoking inside. The terrain in places involves steps.
