The Dumfries and Galloway coastline draws walkers and families seeking quiet space away from crowds. Garden Cottage sits within a substantial country estate that spans gardens, farmland and woodland, offering direct access to a network of paths that lead through the grounds and along the shoreline. The cottage itself occupies the west wing of an 18th-century house, positioning it well for those wanting both privacy and the reassurance of being part of an established, managed property.
Inside, three bedrooms spread across two floors can accommodate six guests. The ground floor holds the main living areas—an open-plan space combining kitchen, dining and sitting room—plus a utility room and the first of three bathrooms. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, each with its own en-suite. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with a cooker, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. One pet is welcome, and there is parking for two cars.
The 1,300-acre estate rewards exploration. Seasonal colour moves through the grounds: snowdrops and daffodils in late winter, bluebells in spring, rhododendrons and azaleas through April and May, hydrangeas lasting into autumn. Red squirrels inhabit the woodland, alongside roe deer, hares and various birds. Boat Bank beach lies within a mile's walk. The cottage does not permit smoking indoors.
