High Clachan Farmhouse

Dumfries and Galloway's coastline draws walkers, swimmers and water sports enthusiasts, and the hinterland offers open countryside dotted with forests where red squirrels still thrive. High Clachan Farmhouse sits on a working estate spanning 1,300 acres of gardens, farm and woodland—a traditional stone building surrounded by open farmland, with direct access to the network of paths and coastal routes that crisscross the property.

The farmhouse sleeps eight across four bedrooms: two with zip-and-link beds that can be configured as doubles or singles, and two others with a kingsize and a pair of bunks. Three bathrooms service the floors—two en-suite to the upstairs rooms, each with a roll-top bath and shower. Downstairs, the open-plan kitchen and dining area sits alongside a sitting room with a wood-burning stove, and a conservatory overlooks the lawned garden. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; logs for the stove are provided, and garden furniture is set out on the patio.

Port Beg beach is less than a mile away; Lady Bay is accessible by road. Both offer swimming, picnicking and space for paddleboards. The wider estate supports walks through woodland and past open fields where you might spot roe deer, hares or woodpeckers, and the grounds are shared with other properties on-site. One well-behaved dog is welcome. No smoking indoors.
