Hawthorn Cottage is a single-storey property where everything unfolds on one level. The moment you enter, you find a living room with a wood-burning stove and Smart TV, which opens into a kitchen and dining space equipped for proper cooking—electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer all there. A conservatory extends the living area, and the garden beyond is enclosed and lawned, with patio seating looking towards the sea.
The two bedrooms are straightforward: one with a king-size bed and its own ensuite shower, the other with a double bed served by a family bathroom with bath and over-shower. Oil-fired heating is included, along with electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi; there's also an initial load of wood for the stove. Private parking for two cars sits on site, and smoking is not permitted inside.
The cottage stands barely further than a cricket pitch from the beach at Southerness, with views across the Solway Firth towards Scotland and the Lake District. The location suits outdoor enthusiasts—the area is built around mountain biking trails, castles and abbeys are within reach, and the RSPB reserve at Mersehead is close by. Wildlife is abundant: otters, porpoises, winter geese, and a golf championship course a short walk away for those who play.
