Jura

Jura works well for families or groups of six looking for a seaside base in southwest Scotland. The cottage sits in Southerness, a coastal village with views across the Solway Firth, and the beach is moments away. Everything is on the ground floor: three bedrooms (one with a kingsize bed, two with single beds each), a shower room, and an open-plan living space that includes a dining area and conservatory. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included.

The back garden has a patio and seating, and there is parking for three cars on site. The village itself has a distinctive white lighthouse dating from 1749, and Southerness Golf Course runs alongside the property if golf interests you. Beyond the immediate area, Dumfries and Galloway offers woodland walks, mountain biking trails at nearby Dalbeattie and Mabie, beaches and coves further along the coast, and various castles and gardens. No smoking inside the property.
