The Galloway coastline is three miles away, with sandy beaches and rocky coves where seals and minke whales occasionally appear. Inland, the Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park and Galloway Hills offer walking routes past hidden lochs, burns and waterfalls. The Mull of Galloway lighthouse—Scotland's southerly tip—commands views across to Ireland, England and the Isle of Man. Birdwatchers come for Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve, where pink-footed and greylag geese arrive in autumn and winter alongside numerous duck and wading bird species. The area suits walkers, artists and those after horse riding, golf, sailing or diving.

Mid Bishopton Cottage sits on a working cattle farm and sleeps four: two bedrooms (one double, one with two singles), a bathroom with bath and shower, and a ground-floor living space with kitchen and dining area. The woodburner and electric heating keep things warm. Essentials like bed linen, towels, electricity and wifi are provided. Outside is an enclosed garden with a private four-person hot tub, sitting-out area and parking for two cars. One dog is welcome and stays free, though must remain on lead as this is a working farm. A shop lies a mile away; pubs and restaurants are three miles off.
