Orchard Cottage

Orchard Cottage is a stone-built holiday home on the Dumfries and Galloway coast, metres from Rigg Bay beach and within sight of the Galloway House Gardens. You arrive into an open-plan ground floor where the living and dining areas share space with a fully equipped kitchen, and there's a separate sitting room with a woodburner. A shower room completes the ground floor. Three bedrooms occupy the first floor—all with super king beds—alongside a bathroom with bath and shower. The property sleeps six.

Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered, with initial logs for the woodburner provided. An external tumble dryer, bike store and parking for four cars are available. The enclosed garden has seating and furniture. One well-behaved pet is welcome. Note that internet and mobile signal are limited here, and there's no provision for electric vehicle charging.

The location suits families, walkers, artists and nature enthusiasts equally. The beach is steps away; the coastal path leads south through woods to Cruggleton Castle and its clifftop views. Heading north takes you through the gardens to Garlieston village. Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town, lies a short drive away, as do the Galloway Hills, fishing spots and golf courses. The village shop, pub and restaurant are a mile off.
