Strathmaddie Farm Cottage

This converted barn at Strathmaddie Farm dates back generations but works entirely on one level, making it practical for families or groups who want rural character without the stairs. The sitting room has a woodburner and streaming services; the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking with an oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine; bedrooms hold a superking and two singles; and a single bathroom serves the property. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity are included, with logs for the fire provided to start you off.

The location sits between wooded slopes and the farming country that rolls down to Wigtown Bay, with views across the estuary from the enclosed garden. There is parking for two cars on site and an outdoor storage area. One well-behaved pet can stay free. The cottage is a non-smoking property.

Newton Stewart lies within reach of Galloway Forest Park, which sprawls across thousands of acres with walking routes, fishing and the 7Stanes mountain biking trails. The coastal character of the locality means beaches and wildlife-watching are close by, and the wider region around Dumfries and Galloway has castles, gardens and quiet country roads to explore.
