The Cottage stands in the village of Garlieston on the Solway coast, a short walk from sand and within reach of rocky coves and quiet villages. This stone cottage sleeps six across three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a double and ensuite on the ground floor, and a further double plus twin upstairs. The sitting room has a woodburner and woodburning stove also heats the dining room; the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking. Wi-Fi and all essentials including bed linen and towels are provided, and initial logs for the fires come with the booking.
An enclosed garden with lawn and barbecue opens from the house. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The surrounding area offers fishing, sailing and golf; Wigtown—Scotland's national book town—lies nearby, as does Whithorn's archaeological site. A shop and pub are 250 yards away, and Newton Stewart has a cinema, swimming pool and full range of shops. Sorbie Tower, seat of Clan Hannay, is within visiting distance. The cottage itself contains family history and tartan details reflecting those connections. No smoking inside.
