Rose Cottage stands on a working farm reached by a private track, where the setting combines seclusion with access to Solway Coast and Galloway Forest Park. The converted granite building has a contemporary extension and sits within 23 acres of natural grounds. Ground-floor living means no stairs: a sitting room with wood burner opens to a dining area, and the kitchen has everything needed to cook properly—electric cooker, dishwasher, full-size fridge and freezer. Both bedrooms are ensuite, one with a super kingsize bed, the other a zip-and-link that splits into singles on request. Underfloor heating runs throughout, and wi-fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included; initial fuel for the wood burner is too.

Outside, an enclosed lawn has patio seating, garden furniture and a barbecue. Parking for two cars sits on a gravel base at the property. The site has a natural water supply and animals, with some uneven ground across the farm. A ramp and handrail lead to the front door, and bike storage and a garden shed are available. Travel cots and highchairs can be arranged. The property is non-smoking. For a base to explore the region or simply retreat, it works year-round, though the working farm means it is not a manicured resort setting.

Had a lovely stay at Whitecroft Farm Cottages. The area is peaceful and has beautiful views from the window. The cottage was spotlessly clean, light and airy and had everything we could need and more. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming and provided a really generous, delicious welcome basket. Loved the animals which Hilary and Mark were kind enough to show us and enjoyed feeding the highland cows. Our dog had a marvellous time in the fully enclosed garden and loved a play session with the resident dog, May. Mark is a super talented artist and I really enjoyed looking around his studio. Lots to see and do in the area and would love to return. Sally, Ed and Pumpkin

Visiting in February, we found Myrtle Cottage cosy, comfortable and well appointed. The cottage was as warm as the welcome, which included a delicious basket of goodies! The area is picturesque with many lovely places to visit within a 30 minute drive. Would definitely recommend this delightful spot.

Had a lovely week in March in Rose Cottage. It rained quite a bit (it was March in Scotland) but the cottage was a lovely space just to hang out and read and watch the birds. Also great coastal and forest walks. Hilary and Mark were welcoming hosts.
