About Corriehall Stopover
Tucked into the rolling countryside near Lochfoot, this tiny adults-only stopover is a haven for cyclists and anyone craving a peaceful rural retreat. National Cycle Route 7 runs right past the site, making it effortless to set off towards Dumfries or further afield, while the rugged trails at 7stanes (15 minutes away) beckon mountain bikers. Between rides, stow your bike in secure storage and explore the surrounding farmland on foot – it's a proper wildlife haven with spectacular Dumfries and Galloway scenery all around.
With only a handful of hardstanding pitches, the atmosphere stays wonderfully quiet. There's a small on-site kitchen for self-catering, or you can stock up in Dumfries and cook back at camp. The facilities are basic and can feel a touch tired in places, but for a budget-friendly base with direct cycle-route access and lake-and-mountain views, Corriehall delivers exactly what it promises.

Depending on your point of view, the rooms (my camper) were excellent. However, there are 5 charming shepherd huts made ready for visitors. Well worth checking out.

We stayed with our motorhome for three nights on the aire style pitches. Very friendly welcome . Lovely views and we even saw a red squirrel. This is what an aire in the U.K. should be. Simple but with everything you need at a good price. Would definitely recommend and will return.

It is such a nice place to stay, we've never been so welcomed as we were at Corriehall Stopover. Roman and Maxine are friendly and very helpful. Their animals are gorgeous. We didn't stay in the shepherds' huts, but they looked really cosy, we were in our motorhome, we had electric hook up, water, and the usual waste disposals for such a great price. Lovely views with horses in the field next to us, we saw some beautiful sunsets. Dumfries is just a few miles away, and the bus goes right past the site. Nice quiet place to stay, we definitely recommend it 🙂

Had a lovely cosy stay here at the beginning of February. The accommodation is just perfect for anyone wanting a quiet place to stay just an easy few minutes drive from the town. The hut has everything you'd need and is very comfortable, it was surprisingly warm too, I didn't even need to turn the heating up off the base setting while I was there. Bed very comfy, great shower, easy parking, great hosts. Really great accommodation at a really great price!
