About Hetland Hall Hotel

Hetland Hall sits just outside Dumfries at Carrutherstown, around fifteen minutes from town and roughly the same distance from Gretna Green, with views across the Solway Firth towards the Lake District hills on a clear day. Rooms span classic, superior and deluxe categories, plus a handful of suites, and the hotel has been through a recent refurbishment that has smartened up its public spaces.

Food runs through the Copper Beech Restaurant and Fountain Lounge, covering everything from full à la carte dinners to afternoon tea, with allowance made for vegan, gluten-free and other dietary requirements. The grounds and function spaces see regular use for weddings and corporate events, and the hotel arranges golf packages with courses in the surrounding area.

It suits visitors who want some distance from the town centre, a quieter rural setting, and easy access to both the Solway coast and the drive south towards Gretna and the Lake District.

We celebrated our Golden Wedding with a family meal at Hetland Hall followed by an overnight stay. The whole experience was exceptional, from the contact with the events team before the day to the welcome from the reception team and the fabulous bedroom upgrade. The Fountain Room was an ideal venue for our small evening gathering and table setting was perfect. All meals were delicious and well-presented and service was excellent. Breakfast next morning was also delicious - freshly cooked to order and generous portions. All in all a perfect stay - thank you Hetland Hall team.

Fantastic place to stay. Really nice rooms, bar and restaurant are superb. Not cheap but not over the top either. Food is fantastic and so is the breakfast choice which is table service, fantastic. The staff are just excellent one and all but Mhairi is just excellent. I think this lady is a manager but so personable and helpful. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for our daughters wedding at a nearby venue. Hotel looks very grand on arrival but the first room we were given looked out onto a wall and we had paid extra for a superior room so we asked if we could move. They moved us to a room on 2nd floor and the lift only goes upto the 1st. The room itself was spacious and nicely decorated but only had 2 small windows which overlooked the car park and surrounding countryside. However the room was very dark and we needed lights on continously. The bathroom was very light and bright. We did have a lovely dinner here though. And the outside seating area was lovely

We are here for an overnight stay and booked the Spring deal dinner bed and breakfast. This hotel does not disappoint. I'd like to give it 5/5 for the gluten free menu which was varied and my fish pie was delicious. The breakfast was plentiful and eggs benediction with quality gluten free toast was excellent. Well done to this hotel for not making my gluten free diet a chore. Definitely be back. Thanks also for the upgrade
