Kestrel Cottage stands on an 18-acre estate where paths lead directly into open countryside—ideal if you want to step outside and walk, or cycle from the property. The grounds offer genuine seclusion without the isolation; major transport links are close enough to make exploring the wider region straightforward.
Everything is on one level. The open-plan living and kitchen space has French doors onto a patio with garden furniture and a barbecue, while the two bedrooms—one double, one with twin singles—and wet room with separate toilet serve a party of four. The kitchen is equipped for real cooking, and essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. There's parking for two cars and a bike store. Wheelchair access is available.
The cottage works equally well for couples after a quiet break, families gathering together, or friends on a reunion. The open views across fields give a sense of space without feeling remote. No smoking throughout.

We had an amazing stay at Durham Country Cottages. The bungalow is set in a beautiful, peaceful location surrounded by scenic views, which made it perfect for relaxing and switching off. The underfloor heating was a really nice touch and kept the place warm and cosy throughout our stay. Everything was clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully prepared. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made us feel comfortable straight away. It was also great value for money and felt like a real hidden gem. We had no complaints at all and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. We would definitely love to return in the future.

Excellent accommodation.. totally disabled friendly.. smart, clean, tidy excellent facilities in cottage plenty of storage ..easy access and a most welcoming host..

Jean and Amy very helpful, good communication. Pristine clean cottages. Everything you need. Great unobstructed views. Disability accessable wet room. Quality and tastefully presented. Would highly recommend. Close to Dalton Park Outlet Shopping centre.

We stayed in Bramble cottage for 4 nights. It was a lovely stay and the cottage contained everything you would need. Jean and Amy were excellent hosts and very accommodating. They went out of their way to give us a comfortable stay. A very peaceful setting but not far from local attractions and places to visit.
