Spennymoor sits within reach of Durham's historic centre and the attractions of Bishop Auckland, yet feels tucked into countryside with nature reserves nearby and walks starting from the garden gate. Old Hall Cottage is a converted stone building on a quiet site, accessed from a lane adjacent to the main house. Two bedrooms—one with a king bed and ensuite shower, the other with a zip-and-link arrangement sleeping two—and a second bathroom upstairs mean there's space to spread out. Downstairs, the living room has a woodburner and Freeview TV, while the kitchen is fitted for proper cooking with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher and microwave.

The garden wraps around the property on two levels with an upper patio where your private hot tub sits, suitable for four adults. Furniture and a barbecue are provided, and there's an enclosed lower seating area with views across the garden. A bike store and parking for two cars complete the practical side. Essentials including bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity are covered; wood for the burner is supplied to get you started. The property suits families and groups of four who want a self-contained base—a travel cot, highchair and stairgate are available on request. No smoking inside. Within 15 minutes' drive lie Durham itself (with mainline rail connections), Bishop Auckland and the gateway to Weardale, Teesdale and the Durham Dales, while attractions such as Raby Castle, Beamish Museum and Kielder Water are within reasonable reach. A pub and restaurant sit a quarter-mile away.

A great place to stay if you are a couple, log fire, hot tub, large open bedroom with en suite. Gardens need some attention and the off road parking with be better if it was slightly larger.

Nice cottage a bit on the small size living room especially , small 2 seater sofa not very comfortable and tv very small , all the other rooms are fine. Outside space and hot tub great but hedges could do with cutting back as attracted insects when I hot tub. Over all a pleasant short stay

Absolutely beautiful, everything there what you need . Lovely cosy cottage, tucked away and very peaceful. Hot tub , wood burner , amazing bedrooms, two bathrooms and a lovely split level garden . It really is a gem, and worth a stay in . We would visit again .
