Went to Witton Castle on Friday, for lunch. We were a party of four, one wheelchair user and one with mobility issues. All staff, especially Wendy in the restaurant/bar, were very friendly and helpful. Wendy was extremely helpful with the wheelchair user, and also with assisting one with mobility issues, to the point of. changing his chair for a more comfortable and practical one (some with arms would be very useful). The food was excellent, no complaints there. The only, and important comment I must make is about disabled access. I believe this needs to be seriously looked at by management, as not everyone has the ability to safely negotiate steps or to access toilet facilities. I appreciate that changes required need to be done in sympathy with the castles appearance and atmosphere, but I am sure this can be achieved. Despite this we were all impressed by the castle, food and very attentive staff.

Just had a 4 night stay. Witton castle grounds are immaculate with diverse wildlife, plenty of walks around castle grounds, nature reserve, walking trails. Our castlewood caravan ( dog friendly) was immaculate and had everything we needed for our relaxing break with our dog, a covered patio with chairs for relaxing, was in fact our dogs favourite place to lay out after her walks to lazily watch the wildlife go by. Castle was 10 minutes walk from caravan. Grounds are peaceful and tranquil setting with plenty of birds, squirrels, wild rabbits and the resident peacock. A short walk away is the Nature reserve were ducks, geese and swans can be watched. Owls to listen to on late evenings. All in all an excellent, tranquil and relaxing holiday id definitely recommend. Food at the castle can be ordered to takeaway to the caravan if you want to as we did, delicious and reasonably priced. A coffee shop on the castle grounds with outside areas. Various picnic areas on the grounds to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the area. Anyone staying will need to bring their own bath towels, a torch for night time walks aspecially if bringing dogs with you and recycle bags, site does have large recycle and household waste bins near the castle but only supply black bin bags for household waste, there are plenty of dog poo bins on site aswell.

We visited my niece today who was staying here in a beautiful static caravan. The location is stunning and the caravans well spaced out with plenty of room for the kids to play on. Our day was made even better by Jared, one of the grounds staff, who very kindly gave us a lift to the caravan after we asked for directions! How brilliant - he was so nice too. Thank you Jared - you're a star.
