Couples and small families will find The Old Stables – Number 1 works well as a self-contained base. The property is entirely on ground level, with an open-plan living area, kitchen, two bedrooms and a shower room. One bedroom has a king bed, the other two singles. A patio with seating sits outside. Everything needed for a short break is provided: heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included in the rate.

The location sits between Consett and the Durham Dales, with established footpaths and cycle routes running from the hamlet into the wider countryside. Durham city centre is ten miles south. A pub is within a mile's walk. The property has private parking for two cars and permits one dog. Smoking is not allowed inside.

Absolute wonderful stay! If you want peace and quiet, surrounded by hills and nature, this is the place. The cottsge is outstanding with luxury comforts and the most wonderful views. Bedding is soft, showers are great and fully functional kitchen and utilities. The owner lyn is great, great communication. We have stayed a number of times over the last couple of years with 2 kids and a dog!

I made contact for a last minute stay for me, my partner and two dogs. Can’t fault the communication with the owners. The property is brilliantly located, nice and clean. As you can see one of my dogs couldn’t keep her eyes of the horses in the paddock next to the garden. Will definitely be back.
