About Farnley Tower Guesthouse

Farnley Tower is a Victorian mansion on the outskirts of Durham city, set in a quiet residential conservation area yet under ten minutes' walk from the centre, station and historic sites. Its elevated position gives many of the 17 individually designed en-suite rooms views towards Durham Castle, the cathedral and the surrounding countryside.

The guesthouse has its own restaurant and bar, Holi and Bhang, serving Indian food seven nights a week, along with free Wi-Fi and on-site parking, which is a useful draw in a city where parking near the centre is limited.

Its combination of period character, views and a quieter setting than the peninsula hotels makes it a popular choice for visitors wanting a guesthouse feel with hotel-standard facilities.

Charming Victorian building with quirky and colourful wallpapers. A warm welcome from Anna when we arrived and at breakfast every morning. V quiet location and a short, although steep, walk into Durham but then it is hilly there! Wide range of breakfast options. Large twin room with comfortable beds plus small table with two chairs and large ensuite with excellent shower. Would visit again.

What an amazing stay at this lovely Guesthouse. A lovely warm welcome from Anna and her team, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in room 2, a.superb ground floor room with high ceilings and a large bay window overlooking the front of the property. One of the most comfortable nights sleep we've had away from home. Breakfast was wonderful, so much choice and cooked to perfection. Please don't let the property being on a hill put you off, as this place is amazing. We will be back

Six of us visited for a couple of nights on a trip to Durham. Good location about 10 mins walk from centre of Durham, 15 mins walk from railway station. Staff were superb, particularly Anna who never stopped! Really helpful and friendly. Fantastic breakfast from Richard and his colleagues. Nice rooms, nice decor throughout. Fantastic Indian restaurant attached to the hotel. Good for parking if you need it too. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough-a great stay for us.

Really nicely presented room and decor of the building overall, and very clean. Really warm welcome from Anna the manager and all other staff throughout our stay. A pleasant breakfast room and excellent choice of foods, with all dietary needs catered for. We had a lovely stay, wished were there longer and plan to visit again. Would recommend to all. Thank you Anna and team.
