Radisson Blu Hotel, Durham

Stayed at Radisson Blue Hotel Durham in June and was second time back (after 10 yrs), and again thoroughly loved staying there. Location is easy, parking is easy, rooms are comfortable, breakfast was just as amazing, staff are there for you (special mention to Grazina who was so good and friendly while working the morning breakfast). Will never hesitate going back to book here again in the future.

I had a fantastic stay at the Radisson Blu Durham. A special thank you to Katie, Martine, Lisa and Andrew at the front desk for their warm welcome and excellent service throughout. They truly made my stay feel special. The hotel was comfortable and well-maintained, and the breakfast was outstanding with a great variety of options. Thank you to the whole team, I would highly recommend and look forward to returning next year for the Durham Miners’ Gala!!

i stayed here for two nights and honestly it was some of the best nights sleep i've ever had... the king sized bed was LUXURY and it was definitely memory foam; perfect for resting after about 17,000 steps done in one day! i thought it was really nice to be welcomed with a refillable water jug (which didn't fit the ice from the ice machine but you can't have everything... we just filled up the glasses) and plenty of amenities that don't cost the earth! although the shower was small, it was easy to use and it wasn't overwhelming. it had a nice pressure and left me feeling very relaxed! i did find a very long hair hanging by the shower head which irked me a little, but i'm just gonna say the cleaner had a bad day and forgot. BREAKFAST. wow! while i wasn't exactly spoiled for choice i managed to have a lot of different things! my partner wasnt too fussed about it but i was very pleased. scrambled eggs were fluffy, beans were rich, and plenty of ingredients to make your own cheese/fruit plate or yogurt bowl! HOWEVER... i did find a hair on the pineapple slices, which is less forgivable than the shower... i'm not sure how that managed to get out the kitchen or go unnoticed. the pool and spa were free to enter and very much worth the visit! the pool wasn't exactly empty, even at 7-8pm, but it wasn't terrible. you could easily do a few laps with minimal contact with other people. and the jacuzzi has a 15 minute maximum stay so you can always wait and enjoy it for yourself! the saunas were very relaxing, and for my first experience in one i was so happy! saunas overall aren't for the weak of heart though! the spa was super clean and i wasn't let down one bit. the hotel itself was very luxurious, and the whole time i felt extremely relaxed. there was a nice mix of people, from business people, posh folk, 'the lads', and me, the alternative young adult!! the staff were super kind and friendly, i never once felt unwelcome. the location is also very helpful! right next to the riverside walk, loads of bars and restaurants, plenty of places to visit! i'd highly recommend this hotel, even higher if they clocked hair better.

No fridge No biscuits No caffeine free products No water bottle have to go down corridor to get drinking water and ice outside the room One evening I asked for glass of wine to room. Said £5 extra charge on top of the cost. Only 3 bottles of hand wash body wash shampoo and conditioner in bathroom. I had no idea of what quality of products was in them. Vanity kit( sic) consisted of 2 make up remover pads in an envelope. No shower caps etc. 4 small milks in room for 3 people. I did get extra when I asked. Room overheated and no explanation of how to work the controls. Had to open both windows to cool and get air in.. Try and make a positive of it being eco friendly when it's basically a cost and Staff saving. Minimal staffing. Strange door in my room that I couldn't open from my side, but was scary as it appeared to be a connecting door Positives: Great view of the Cathedral on the hill. But staff there were very helpful. I paid extra to get a room overlooking the river, which I enjoyed. Good size room and bed Ironing board hair dryer etc Very soulless and corporate feel.
