Lowesmuir Cottage

Lowesmuir Cottage is a detached property on a working farm in rural East Ayrshire, where open countryside stretches toward the coast and the Isle of Arran. The whole place is yours alone, with parking for three cars and an enclosed garden with seating area and barbecue. One dog stays free of charge.

All three bedrooms and both bathrooms are on the ground floor. The main bedroom has a king bed and ensuite; a second king-bedded room connects to the main bathroom, which has a bath and shower; the third bedroom holds two singles. The kitchen is fully fitted for cooking, and there's a conservatory that opens directly onto the garden. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. No smoking inside the property.

The location suits anyone wanting space to explore. Galloway Forest Park—Britain's largest, with 300 square miles of woodland, moorland and lochs—is a 30-minute drive away and holds Dark Sky Park status for stargazing. The New Cumnock swimming pool, 3½ miles off, is Scotland's only heated open-air freshwater pool. Dumfries House, an 18th-century mansion with Robert Adam architecture, is a short drive away. Prestwick and Troon have beaches and views toward Arran, which is accessible by day trip.
