The Blackdown Hills National Landscape offers serious walking territory, and Furley Cottages - Brabazon sits within that landscape near Axminster. Axminster itself has independent shops, restaurants, and a working carpet factory with a visitor centre. Rural trails crisscross the surrounding countryside, and nearby Ford House is worth a visit. The cottage occupies part of an 8-acre estate with open fields, woodland paths, and two ponds—you get access to the grounds to explore without leaving the property.

The single-storey layout has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, both en-suite, sleeping up to four. One bedroom has a kingsize bed; the other has two singles that can be linked into a super-king if you ask. Downstairs is open-plan living, dining and kitchen all connected, with an electric wood burner in the sitting area. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering—oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer all present. Outside there's a front garden with seating, a back patio with a summerhouse and barbecue (shared with other properties on the estate), and parking for one car. Essentials like bed linen, towels, heating and Wi-Fi are included. One dog is welcome free of charge. The property does not accept children under 7.

Very peaceful and tranquil place to stay, the grounds it is set on are beautiful. The drive to the cottage is on single track lanes but it is worth it for the views and scenery. The owner Carole was so friendly and helpful and her Labrador puppy Boris is so adorable! It was a lovely place to stay to get away from the suburbs and into the countryside. The beds were very comfortable and I slept so well. Would definitely stay again!
