Stable Yard Cottage

East Hampshire

View on Google Maps

Selborne is a village steeped in natural history, famous for inspiring Gilbert White's 18th-century observations of the British landscape. Stable Yard Cottage sits within the grounds of his historic house, giving you access to 30 acres of landscaped gardens and the chance to explore the museum dedicated to White's life and work, along with the stories of Victorian explorers Lawrence and Frank Oates. The cottage itself is a converted wing, fully restored, spread across three floors with its own entrance and parking.

Inside, you have three bedrooms sleeping six: a kingsize on the first floor, two singles on the same level, and a zip-and-link super kingsize on the top floor (which can be split into two singles if needed). Two bathrooms serve the property—one with shower on the ground floor and one with bath and shower upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with electric oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. A sitting room on the first floor has a TV and DVD player. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. One dog is welcome and stays free; they can roam off-lead in a designated field outside visiting hours.

You're within a mile of a pub, and the gardens are shared with another property on site, though there's an unfenced pond 100 yards away worth noting. A travel cot and highchair are available. Arrive after 3pm, depart by 10am.
