Faulkers Lakes - Hazel Lodge

East Lindsey

Skegness and its sandy beaches lie five miles away, but Hazel Lodge sits in quieter countryside on a working fishing lake estate. The lodge is one of five detached properties spread across five acres of landscaped grounds, with coarse fishing available on-site if that appeals, or you can simply use the private hot tub on your decked veranda as your main attraction.

The layout is open plan on the ground floor, with a living area, dining space and kitchen equipped for proper cooking. One bedroom has a double bed with its own ensuite shower room; the other has two single beds. A second bathroom with a bath and shower serves the rest of the property. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included. There's a lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture, plus private parking for three cars. A shared laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer is available. One dog or cat stays free; travel cots and highchairs can be arranged if needed.

The area suits both families wanting a seaside break and anyone interested in the Lincolnshire countryside—Horncastle with its antique shops is thirty minutes' drive, and there are walks and cycle routes throughout the region. The nearest shops, pub and restaurant are two miles away. Note that there is an unfenced lake twenty yards from the property.

Lodge was spotlessly clean on arrival and very well appointed. Even though the weather wasn't the best for our visit, it was still nice to just relax in the lodge.

On the day of our visit, the fishing wasn't that great. In my opinion, the sun killed it, numbers of F1s at first, but they seem to go off the feed as the day grew warmer. Larger carp didn't seem to be interested. Thats fishing! Well presented pegs make life easy for anglers of all abilities.
