Horncastle sits at the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds, a market town known for its antiques dealers and weekly markets. The Stables Cottage is a barn conversion on the edge of this quiet area, a short walk from The Coach and Horses Inn. The property is yours alone, sleeping four across two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.
Ground floor holds a living and dining room with a wood-burning stove, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, and a separate toilet. Upstairs, both bedrooms have zip-and-link beds (convertible to singles if needed) and en-suite bathrooms—one with a shower cubicle, the other with a bath and overhead shower. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included; initial fuel for the woodburner is too. Outside, there is private parking for two cars and a paved courtyard with garden furniture, with a shared two-acre paddock beyond the gate. Note that an unfenced pond sits in the paddock, 100 yards from the cottage. Travel cots, highchairs and stairgates are available if you ask. Smoking is not permitted indoors.
The coastal resorts of Skegness and Ingoldmells lie about 30 minutes' drive away. Cadwell Park, a racing circuit, is 10 minutes off. Lincoln and its cathedral are within reasonable reach inland. The town itself has supermarkets and shops alongside its character attractions.

My wife booked us in the Shepherds hut for 2 nights as a surprise for my 67th birthday. It was great! They left a birthday card and a bottle of beer for me on arrival. Underfloor heating and a a log burning stove. Would love to come back in warmer weather.

Our family just stayed in the Stables and I can honestly say it was perfect. Our hosts (Mary and Tom) communicated brilliantly and were lovely. The place was spotless, nicely renovated and tastefully decorated. The layout is great and with two children under 10yo - having three toilets was amazing 😆. The real log burner was the icing on the top and even though it was bitterly cold outside we were all super toasty. Can’t recommend enough.

Rookery Rural Retreat was my chosen hideaway / accommodation for my wedding weekend and it was absolutely beautiful 😍 Myself and my bridal party stayed in the Stables on the wedding eve and my parents stayed next door in Wisteria Cottage which was equally perfect for them. I booked the accommodation well in advance. Our wedding venue was at Baumber Walled Garden where there is no accommodation and an hour from home. So I didn't want to miss out on getting booked in. From the very beginning communication was swift and warm. Every little question I had along the way (there were lots) was never too much and I was always put at ease. The accommodation is of a very high standard with cute little details and a cosy feel. I love a cottage vibe so I felt like I was on my holidays (forget the wedding! 😄) It was only a ten minute drive away from the venue and it was lovely to have my parents next door, especially on the wedding morning when the little ones arrived 🤭. The Stables is small but mighty with ample space for getting ready. I felt like a Queen having my own room and ensuite all to myself. I even had a bath whilst watching the moon 🌙 out of the sky light on wedding eve 🤩. The bridemaids had their own bedroom and shower / toilet etc. The top of the stairs was great for our hair station with a lovely big mirror. Downstairs is an excellent space for socialising / relaxing on the sofas. There is a dining table which is perfect for feasting at and then transitioning into an area for makeup 💄 / glam squad. The kitchen had everything we needed. I took some supplies but found that I didnt need most of them. There is also a wc downstairs. The setting itself, and the surrounding area, was perfect for photos and the wedding car pulled up right outside the door 👌🏻. It was an added bonus to be welcomed by Mary, Tom and their two children on arrival. Mostly to thank them for everything they had done in prep for arrival. All these things seem very small but for me, it took alot of stress away during the wedding journey and it was something I knew was in hand and I could look forward to it. They even waved me off as I left in the car to head over to the wedding venue (#royalty 😁). There is also the Shepherds Hut on site, which we didn't end up needing guest wise but I know my Dad would have loved it all to himself 😁 Mary and Tom are the perfect hosts and super lovely people. They go above and beyond to ensure that your stay is nothing but enjoyable and a memorable experience ✨️ The Rookery Rural Retreat wasn't just somewhere to stay for me and my family it was the beginning of the best weekend and it really was special 💕 not just the decor and the comfy beds and cosy furnishings but the hosts which are the very heart of it. Thank you so much Mary, Tom and family 🫶🏻 you are all awesome ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We’ve just stayed for 2 amazing nights at Wisteria Cottage. The place is lovely, it has everything you need for self catering and the bed was really comfortable. The owners were really friendly and welcoming. Good view of the Lincolnshire countryside and I loved seeing the chickens, cows and sheep. Would highly recommend, thank you.
