About The Chatsworth Hotel

An old-world lift still carries guests between floors at The Chatsworth Hotel, a nice period touch in a 30-room hotel set on Grand Parade in Eastbourne, right along the seafront. Rooms are generally spacious and some look straight out over the sea, though maintenance can be inconsistent and it's worth bearing in mind that not every room will feel freshly finished.

The hotel covers most practical needs under one roof: a restaurant and bar, breakfast and packed lunches, room service and drinks brought to the room, plus family rooms, accessible rooms and a bridal suite for those planning a wedding. There's also a gym, spa and sauna on site, along with concierge, laundry, luggage storage and childcare available for guests who need it, and staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful.

Parking is available for guests arriving by car, and the location on the seafront puts golf, fishing, watersports and walking areas all within easy reach, alongside nearby pubs and restaurants for evenings out. It's a straightforward base for exploring Eastbourne's coast, with the sea more or less on the doorstep.

AVOID. Inflexible and rude management and unfulfilled refund promise Review: We booked a 2‑night stay at short notice and realised within 24 hours we’d selected the wrong dates. The hotel refused to cancel, offering only a postponement to the following month, and verbally assured us we could change the dates again if needed or would receive credit. Five days before the rescheduled July dates, we contacted the hotel to adjust again due to travel plans. They then refused any further change, despite their earlier assurance. After a prolonged email exchange, management agreed in writing to refund all but one night’s charge as a goodwill gesture. It has now been over two weeks since that agreement, and the refund has still not been processed. Multiple follow‑up emails and phone calls have gone unanswered, and the hotel is no longer answering my number when I call. Unlikely this is the first time this sort of incident has occurred at this hotel. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this property. The management is inflexible, communication breaks down once a problem arises, and promised refunds are not honoured. Book at your own peril

Just had our third visit at The Chatsworth Hotel, and I honestly could not recommend this hotel enough. The location is gorgeous, right on the sea front and walkable distance to great restaurants! The Chatsworth has an elegant charm, that always makes me feel right at home, all the staff are especially helpful and has always went above and beyond to accommodate us, and make our stay feel incredibly special. Just a short bus away from Beachy Head, which holds some of the most spectacular views I have ever seen. Absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway!

This hotel is magnificent. It’s a beautiful building right on the sea front. The staff are all friendly and professional, the communal spaces are stylish and comfortable. The room I stayed in was stunning, the bath is the best bath I’ve ever been in!! Even took advantage of the massage provision and I feel asleep it was so relaxing!! Will 100% come back again I have loved every minute of it and I’m sad to leave tomorrow!!

Brilliant hotel with stunning views. I was offered a free glass of wine at check in and my room was upgraded with a sea view. Very comfortable beds and a really nice atmosphere. The staff today 12th May were just the best. Well done.
