Facing the sea along Grand Parade in Eastbourne, this hotel pairs sea-view rooms with friendly service and a lively bar and restaurant.

About The Cumberland Hotel

Grand Parade runs right along Eastbourne's seafront, and The Cumberland Hotel occupies a spot on this stretch, putting the promenade and the coastline within easy reach of the front door. The town centre is close by too, so both the water and the shops and attractions inland are equally convenient.

Rooms are en-suite, with several looking straight out over the sea, and family and accessible rooms are available alongside a bridal suite for those celebrating something bigger. Guests can expect drinks and room service on request, plus practical extras like luggage storage and a lift. Staff are consistently described as helpful and attentive, adding to the sense of being well looked after.

The restaurant and bar serve breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meals at reasonable prices, with outdoor seating for warmer days and packed lunches or kids' meals available too, though the kitchen's consistency doesn't always hit the same high note. Beyond the hotel, the area suits walking and cycling, with golf, fishing and watersports nearby, plus pubs and restaurants within easy reach for evenings out.

We booked my Mum's 90th birthday party at this lovely hotel and are so pleased we did! Yvonne and her wonderful team could not do enough to make the day a perfect success! The food was amazing. Yvonne welcomed guests, serving everyone with drinks. We then had the superb carvery with lamb, gammon, turkey and as much vege as we could manage with all the trimmings! Yvonne served more drinks with our lovely meal. This was followed by a huge choice of tasty desserts and another drink for the speech and toast. We were then served teas/coffees. The service was amazing. All the staff at this hotel are so friendly, professional and helpful. The tables and chairs had been decorated to match our colour scheme and additional tables arranged for drinks, the cake, the tv screen to show a photo slide show and all the presents. It was absolutely perfect. Thank you all so much for making Mum's birthday so special, we really appreciated all your hard work. X

I visited with my daughter after a short-notice booking and we enjoyed a delicious (and superb value!) afternoon tea, with a proper big pot of tea and a hot chocolate for my daughter. The staff were all very friendly and made us feel welcome. Recommended!

booked and checked in with a group of friends ( 6 people of us). The hotel is located perfectly at seafront, very convenient for strolling on beach at the sunset and dawn in breeze. The hotel service was considerate and thoughtful, the food at the hotel restaurant is tasty and wonderful. We enjoyed and definitely recommend it to everyone.
