I have been going to this gym for more than 3 months now and can say that it’s actually a very good gym with quite a lot of specialist equipment for it’s size - loads of pull up bars, an assisted pull up machine, punching bags, skipping ropes and even a curved treadmill! It’s a great place to go if you’re into functional training. The staff there are all friendly, polite and helpful - readily engage clients throughout the day. The male changing rooms are quite spacious with good showers. I’m aware that copthall is renown for it’s swimming pools as it contains an Olympic size pool; a second pool for adults and one for small kids as well, though I haven’t used them of late

Great facilities at reasonable price. Better booking works well. Good coffee shop. Gates system sometimes fail you. Sweeming pool is good but change area can be better...

Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre is a unique spot where both health and entertainment needs are well catered for. The location and spacious layout allow it to accommodate a large number of customers comfortably. The reception area and coffee shop are particularly impressive. However, the online registration portal for booking beginner lessons and activities has noticeable glitches. When we first approached a male staff member at reception for assistance, he was quite impatient and seemed to place the blame on us for the registration issues. Unfortunately, we spent hours without receiving proper help. The following day, we were assisted by Ms. Lamia at reception, and the experience was completely different. She was warm, welcoming, and highly professional. She listened carefully to our needs and concerns, and we were pleasantly surprised by how efficiently she handled everything—registering us and processing payment smoothly within minutes. We are now thrilled to be enrolled in the swimming lessons and family fun swim sessions, and we’re really looking forward to attending more in the future.

I have been a member of Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre gym for over 8 years, and the situation in the gym has become completely unacceptable. On a regular basis, a significant number of machines are simply not switched on, even though they are electrically operated. This is not an occasional fault – it happens again and again. There are cardio bikes where only two machines exist, and I have experienced occasions where neither of them was turned on. That makes them completely unusable. Even worse is the situation with the Boditrax machine. I require this equipment for health-related reasons, and although I only use it around once a month, every single time I actually need it, it is not switched on. This is not a coincidence – it is a pattern. What is truly outrageous is the attitude of the staff. I have repeatedly informed the gym staff about these issues, and on multiple occasions they refused to switch the machines on, claiming they were “busy running a fitness class” and therefore “did not have time”. This has happened more than once. I find this attitude completely unacceptable. I am paying for a service, yet I am not receiving what I am paying for. Basic functionality of gym equipment should not depend on whether staff feel like switching it on or not. After 8 years of loyalty, this level of neglect, poor organisation, and dismissive customer service is frankly embarrassing for a leisure centre of this size. I would not recommend this gym to anyone who expects reliable equipment and professional service.
