Lodge 78

The Fife coast near St Andrews and the East Neuk draws visitors for the golf, the medieval town centre, and the string of fishing villages that line the shore. Lodge 78 sits on Stewart's Resort, a collection of properties that share facilities including a gym, sauna and restaurant, giving you more than a single cottage can offer. The lodge itself is built on one level, with an open-plan living space, a kitchen fitted for cooking proper meals, and direct access to a decked garden where a private four-person hot tub overlooks the grounds.

The two bedrooms are a king in the first with its own shower room, and two singles in the second, served by a separate family bathroom. One dog stays free. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are covered, plus Wi-Fi. There's parking for two cars, an enclosed garden with seating, and a children's play area on site. Non-smoking throughout.

St Andrews itself is within reach—the ruined castle and cathedral, the university, and of course the golf courses that made it famous globally. The East Neuk villages with their harbours and seafood restaurants lie a short drive away.
