Palace View
Fife
Falkland sits between the Lomond Hills in a landscape of woodland and working estate. The village itself centres on the palace, a Stewart royal residence built in the early 1500s, and spreads out through cobbled streets lined with shops, tea rooms and restaurants. Palace View occupies the upper floor of Liquorstane House, a substantial property extensively restored after decades as a hotel and masonic lodge.
The apartment has two bedrooms, each with a double bed, and a bathroom with shower. Downstairs is open-plan living and dining space with a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and the rest. Large windows flood the rooms with light. You get the whole place to yourself, with allocated parking for two cars on site, and the essentials—electricity, gas, bed linen, towels and wifi—are covered. A pub lies within a mile's walk.
The location works for exploring the palace and gardens, the Falkland Estate's 560 hectares, or simply settling in after a day out. The village has enough going on without feeling busy. Note that smoking is not permitted in the property.
