About Rocksalt Rooms

Walk into a room at Rocksalt Rooms and you get a clean, modern space with an en-suite bathroom, drinks laid on, and in many cases a sea view over Folkestone to enjoy from bed. It's an adults-only set-up, which keeps things quiet and geared towards guests wanting a proper break rather than a family stopover. Free WiFi and 24 hour reception mean check-in and evenings both run at your own pace.

Downstairs there's a restaurant and breakfast is served on site, so you can start and end the day without leaving the building, while luggage storage makes for an easy arrival or a late departure. Childcare can also be arranged, useful if part of your travelling party needs a hand while others head out.

The address on Back Street puts you within reach of Folkestone's pubs, bars and restaurants, with further eateries and entertainment nearby, plus a golf course for anyone wanting to fill an afternoon. It's a straightforward, comfortable base for exploring the town and its coastline.

We booked a room at Rocksalt rooms late in 2025 and stayed in the standard room overnight on the 24th May. We paid £250 including breakfast. As we’ve paid this type of money for a room in central London and other areas we were so looking forward to having a harbour view in a luxury boutique room. We booked in at the rock salt rooms restaurant and were taken some 200 yards away down a dark and dank alleyway to a room on the first floor (La La room). Bijou does not describe how pokey and claustrophobic the room was. We have never seen such a small and inadequate shower/wet room. We couldn’t sit on the toilet with any comfort, so did not experience that ‘convenience’ even! We can only assume that the extra £100 we paid compared to prices the following day was due to being over the holiday weekend. Never, ever again we will be so fooled.

One night stay, always been a fan of the restaurant and wanted to try their rooms. Beautifully presented, has all you’d need for a short stay and a fabulous breakfast. Valentine Room on the top has a fabulous view of the harbour, tea and coffee and a small fridge. Maybe some biscuits would be nice but otherwise absolutely nothing to complain about. Tram Road car park nearby lets you leave your car overnight and if you arrive in the afternoon pay for 12 hours and it covers you until breakfast is over!

The room was very well laid out, it’s not huge but there is enough space for a couple of nights comfortably. The location is good , it’s not far from the restaurant either. You go to the restaurant to book in and they asked if we needed milk (tea and coffee facilities are in the room ) and they escort you to your room . There was a nespresso machine and capsules , tea bags, kettle, mini fridge and still and sparkling water. I liked that they had proper glasses and mugs. They had bathrobes which was a nice touch. We had a sea view so was the top floor which was nice. The bed was curious comfortable . There is an ironing board in the hallway with things like shower caps and emery boards if you need them . The bathroom has a wet room and toilet, but no real space for toiletries because of the size. When we were there the shower was the hottest but it was fine for me. The only minor point was that our room wasn’t serviced (towels changed, bed made up etc ) even though we asked for it, but it was only two nights to not too bad . The breakfast at rock salt is good quality but it does take a bit of time so be prepared. It’s also only for an hours window during the week days , 2 hours on the weekend

We booked a last minute one night stay in the family suite and were really pleased. The rooms, although quite compact, were very nicely presented, clean and ideally located near the restaurants. Breakfast was a highlight, beautifully presented with good choices. Would recommend for a short stay.
