Burns Cottage is a wonderful place to visit and an important part of Scotland's history. It was fascinating to stand inside the small thatched cottage where Robert Burns was born in 1759 and imagine what life was like at the time. The cottage has been carefully preserved and the guides were friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about Burns' life and legacy. The rooms are full of character and provide a real sense of the humble beginnings of Scotland's national poet. Combined with the nearby museum and historic sites around Alloway, Burns Cottage makes for a memorable and worthwhile visit. Whether you're a fan of Robert Burns or simply interested in Scottish history, I would highly recommend stopping by.

The ticket price covers entry to both Burns Cottage and the Burns Museum up the road which is great value. When we visited there were folk musicians playing inside so we couldn't have a proper look around that room as it felt a bit awkward but they were lovely and we had a nice chat. The last room was the most homely with the chairs by the fireplace, I enjoyed that room the most and it was great to see a glimpse of what lies behind the painted walls. The garden sculptures are a nice touch. I'd like to see the garden during summer when the apples are growing. The stained glass room in the Educational Building was locked unfortunately, I would have liked to see the windows from the inside. Next time!!

Anyone with interest in Robert Burns will love this experience. It is very well preserved and peaceful. There is a car park as well. Just down the road is the museum, gift shop and cafe. It’s a pleasant walk through the park to the museum if you have the time and energy.

Absolutely amazing, as a Burns fan to visit where he was born gave me chills. Made all the better by the couple hired to perform Burns songs from his dining room (excellent they were).
