About John Muir Way Campsite
What a spot this is for walkers and cyclists – Lanarkshire's John Muir Way Campsite, a mile from Strathblane, sits directly on both the John Muir Way and West Highland Way trails, with the gorgeous Campsie Fells rising at its doorstep. Beyond the immediate terrain, the Trossachs National Park, golf courses and Loch Lomond watersports lie within half an hour's drive, while Glasgow and Stirling are equally accessible for urban fix-seekers. Closer to base, castles, bird parks and whisky tours await those seeking gentler pursuits.
The site itself blends wild camping appeal with unexpected boutique touches: pitch your tent among rural views, light a campfire or barbecue, then scrub up in the shower block before heading to the main building for hot tub soaks, games room fun and restaurant meals. With everything from drying rooms and parent-baby facilities to charging points and a small shop stocked with local produce, it's thoughtfully equipped for everyone from budget backpackers to motorhome tourers – though with just 11-25 pitches, that peaceful, remote feel remains refreshingly intact.

What visitors say
Lovely place for walks along the beach and cliffs. Parking is reasonable but I can see it getting busy in summer. Toilets availble. Playing area for kids and picnic benches.

Car park £3 all day loads of spaces, clean toilets, big adventure play park for the kids, map with directions. We went onto the beach and then along to Dunbar and back. Short walk to get into the beach, then over Belhaven bridge and along John Muir Way into Town. Lovely walk, timed it perfect with the tides. In the other direction is woodlands and more beach, will check that out next time! Great place if you like coastal outdoors! Dunbar is also a great wee town.

Beautiful, just sad to see quite a few of the trees down from last years storm but still a magical place for us and crazy Cael the collie loved it and all the adventures to be had. Excellent varied beautiful spaces and what a beach with its ever changing huge sky. We love it here, will keep coming back.

A great place to bring the kids or go for a walk. There is a small play park for the kids to play in and there is public restroom next to it. The place is great for wildlife watching especially birds and Butterflies. The downside of this place is there is a lot of dog walking in the area which can sometimes scare the wildlife away. Car parking £2 for the day.
