About Argyll Guest House
The Argyll Guest House sits at 970 Sauchiehall Street in the West End, at the quieter end of the street where the city grid gives way to residential terraces. It is the budget option among the properties on this stretch, aimed squarely at travellers who want a clean, well-placed bed rather than facilities.
Rooms are en suite and simply furnished, with singles, doubles, twins and family rooms available and breakfast included. There is no bar or restaurant, but Sauchiehall Street and Argyle Street between them cover everything from cafes to the Finnieston restaurant strip within a ten-minute walk.
The location does most of the work. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and Kelvingrove Park are a few minutes away, Glasgow University and the Hunterian a little beyond, and Kelvinhall Subway station runs into Buchanan Street in under ten minutes. For anyone attending an event at the SEC or OVO Hydro, it is one of the cheapest walkable beds in the city.

What guests say
I stayed here for two weeks during a short study abroad program and had the best time. Super close to UofG’s campus with nearby public transit stops/stations to get around the city. The room was great as well, very clean and comfortable. The staff were exceptional. Everyone was really welcoming and friendly. I interacted with Hisham almost daily at the hotel breakfast. He immediately clocked that I wasn’t eating meat and offered to make vegetarian sausages. He did the same for my classmates and was very attentive and kind overall. Harry at the front desk was great too. I wanted a haircut when I first arrived and he suggested where I might be able to find a good hair salon.

My husband needed to stay for one night to accommodate early departure from Glasgow and hardly slept as the bed was so uncomfortable! The whole point of booking this was so he could get a decent sleep before his departure - definitely will not be using Argyll Guest House again.

We really enjoyed our 1 night stay! Even though our room wasn't ready at 3:30pm, the check-in across the road was smooth and the kind woman at the reception was very helpful. The room was very clean, and a nice mix between traditional room and a modern bathroom. Great water pressure on the shower, very comfy mattress, nice weight to the blanket, and a decent sized TV. Can't ask for much more! Overall very pleasant stay.
