About Argyll Hotel
The Argyll sits at 973 Sauchiehall Street, at the point where the street leaves the city grid and becomes part of the West End. It is a family-run Georgian building, refurbished to a good standard in recent years, and it fills a useful gap between the branded city-centre hotels and the smaller guest houses further up the road.
Rooms are all en suite and straightforward rather than designed, with singles, doubles, twins and family configurations available. The scale is small enough that staff recognise you by the second morning, which is much of the appeal.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a five-minute walk, Kelvingrove Park is opposite, and the restaurants of Finnieston are a little further down Argyle Street. Kelvinhall Subway station connects to Buchanan Street in around eight minutes, and the SEC and OVO Hydro are close enough to walk back from after a gig. Rates are considerably lower than the equivalent in the grid.

What guests say
Great little family run hotel! We stayed 1 night just for a gig at the hydro, conviently a 15 min walk from there. We arrived after the gig at 11.30pm having come straight up from Newcastle after work that day, so we were happy to be able to check in that late without a problem, the reception as staff member was very pleasant and helpful, smooth check in. We booked a breakfast slot too. We booked a small double room, and it was very cosy, clean and nicely furnished, and luckily the radiators were on as it was a freezing night. Very comfy bed, we slept well. Bathroom very clean too, shower was so powerful I think I nearly blasted the shower head off switching it on 😂 breakfast was a great selection, hot buffet, cold bits, 3 juices, hot drinks, fruit, toast etc. staff were very helpful and pleasant again. Would definitely stay again! 10/10 ❤️ - only suggestion, we didn't have a do not disturb sign in our room anywhere and had housekeeping knock on our door at 9am when we were just waking up and in the shower etc, could definitely do with a door sign next time!

No fans and it was hot during month of August. Breakfast was good. Location is away from centre and bus service after 6pm goes down. You can take cab. Please note even bus from airport doesn’t come near this hotel. There is a great museum nearby which is free of cost. Staff was nice. There are many good Indian restaurants nearby.

My review is based on a last minute booking which was a budget single room. The hotel is well located near Kelvingrove Park and walkable to west end and city centre. Friendly receptionist and staff although arriving at 2.30pm I was not able to check-in (usually 3pm) but was offered left luggage if I wanted so guess that’s fine. Room was very small size of the bed with small shower room but it was a cheap room so OK for the price I paid. Bed however needs a new mattress or topper as some springs could be felt (I am used to a memory foam topped mattress at home…) but was comfortable enough for one night. Fabulous breakfast spread, top marks for that. Overall I was very happy with price paid for this hotel.
