I enjoyed my visit although it took me a while to find the parts that were of greatest interest. For me the Rennie Macintosh school collection was just great and although not huge was really worth seeing. I also very much enjoyed the aspects of Glasgow's heavy engineering past. I found far to many stuffed animals and mediocre 18th and 19th century paintings, but I guess others may love them, I moved quickly on. obviously one has to celebrate themuseums centre piece, the Dali crucifixion. I am not a fan of Dali but this is a great painting and for many the main reason for the visit. I agree but don't overlook that other things I mention, except the stuffed wildlife of course!

I’d highly recommend visiting Kelvingrove museum in Glasgow! Bus stops right at the entrance, easily accessible thru public transport. Highlights for me where Van Gogh, Monet, impressionalists, Oil canvases-Still paintings by various artists. Sculptures in the hallways in the first floor were so beautiful. It’s easy to miss certain collections, use the map left at the entrance. Installations in the ground floor were intriguing as well. Nice photo-ops! I’m grateful that we could visit at no-cost. It’s my first time seeing the organ instrument, never seen before. I didn’t know something’s like this existed, it’s a marvel. We didn’t get to hear the recital , make sure to see the recital timings if interested.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is easily one of the standout cultural spots in Glasgow—and arguably one of the best free museums in the UK. The building itself is impressive before you even step inside. The red sandstone exterior and grand design give it a very “old-world” feel, and once you enter, the central hall with its high ceilings and organ immediately sets the tone. It’s the kind of place that feels both historic and welcoming at the same time. What makes Kelvingrove particularly special is the variety of its collections. It’s not just an art gallery or just a museum—it blends fine art, natural history, and historical artefacts all in one place. You can go from viewing works by artists like Salvador Dalí to exploring exhibits on ancient Egypt, medieval armour, or Scottish wildlife within minutes. It keeps the experience engaging, even if you’re not typically a “museum person.” One of the highlights is Dalí’s Christ of Saint John of the Cross, which draws a lot of attention and lives up to expectations. But there are plenty of smaller, less crowded exhibits that are just as interesting if you take the time to explore. The layout can feel slightly disjointed at times, and it’s easy to lose your sense of direction—but that’s part of the charm. You end up discovering things you weren’t necessarily looking for. There’s also a café and gift shop, making it easy to spend a few hours here without rushing. The fact that entry is free is a huge plus, especially considering the quality and scale of what’s on offer. Kelvingrove is a must-visit in Glasgow: accessible, diverse, and genuinely engaging whether you’re there for a quick stop or a longer wander.
