About DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central
DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central is a substantial eight-floor hotel with 303 rooms, built for a city-centre stay rather than a quiet retreat. It sits on Cambridge Street within easy reach of Glasgow's shopping streets, theatres and nightlife, with rail stations close by for onward travel and major business or entertainment venues nearby too.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi, with family and accessible rooms available and drinks and room service on offer for those who'd rather not go out. Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar, breakfast with a decent spread, and kids' meals catered for. The leisure facilities run to an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym, plus a spa for anyone wanting to unwind after a day in the city. Meeting rooms, business services and a concierge round out the practical side, and there's chargeable on-site parking for drivers.
Staff are consistently described as attentive and the food gets good marks across the board, though some rooms have been affected by construction noise, worth bearing in mind when booking. For visitors, the location does the heavy lifting: shops, pubs, restaurants and entertainment are all within walking distance, making this a straightforward base for exploring Glasgow.
What guests say
We had Afternoon Tea on Thursday afternoon, and it was really lovely. All the staff members working during that service were very welcoming and friendly. We were looked after by a young Asian gentleman who was very kind and attentive. We were also served at the beginning by an African lady who made a perfect caramel latte for us and was extremely welcoming and pleasant. The only name I managed to get was Devlyn, a lovely lady who served us Prosecco. Thank you all for making our visit so enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back!

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The room was comfortable, the location was convenient with easy access to the subway and train station, and both breakfast and dinner were good. The front desk staff was helpful, and the laundry service was excellent. However, there were a few areas that need improvement. Housekeeping removed our towels even though we had hung them up for reuse, and only returned one set. We had to ask twice before receiving a second set. The pool area could use better maintenance, as some of the furniture was damaged. No bathrobes were available, and no locks were offered for the lockers. When I asked to refill my water bottle, the bar only provided unfiltered tap water, which had a strong chlorine taste. Installing a water filter for bottle refills would be a great improvement. The elevator system is frustrating. Pressing the call button triggers both elevators, but only one responds, and there is no indication which one it will be. Since there isn't enough space in the lobby to wait where both elevators are visible, and not enough time to move from one elevator to the other once it arrives, you often end up missing it and having to call again. Finally, no towels were available in the gym.

The hotel was nice. Your basic hotel. The staff have been amazing. Answering all out questions and helping us get what we need. The free breakfast is amazing and the eggs the best I have ever eaten! On out last night of our stay we ate dinner in the restaurant and our waitress Stephanie was amazing! She was so helpful and accommodating!

This hotel provided everything we were looking for. The Deluxe Queen room was spacious and comfortable,, which helped with 4 people in the room inc. one child. Having the restaurant and bar provided flexibility of what and when we wanted to eat. What we especially enjoyed was the pool, gym, sauna and steam room. All these facilities gave the choice of being together, or having solo time.
