About The Alfred

Glasgow's West End is known for its leafy streets, museums and easy pace, and The Alfred occupies a Victorian townhouse right in the middle of it. The building's period character has been kept intact while the rooms inside have been given a more refined, boutique feel, with some looking out over the surrounding city.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks are provided in-room, with family rooms available for those travelling with children. Free WiFi runs throughout, and there's a lounge for guests who want somewhere quiet to sit away from their room. Breakfast is served on site, and luggage storage is available for early arrivals or late departures.

Pubs, restaurants and other eateries are all close by, so there's no shortage of options for evening meals or a drink out. The location also puts guests near Kelvingrove Art Gallery and the Botanic Gardens, making it a sensible base for exploring the West End on foot.

Booked 3 nights with this hotel, only to be told that they want me to pay a further 600 euro to keep the booking. Otherwise, it was to be cancelled. Obviously this isn't acceptable, so it's been cancelled. I've now been left with no other accommodation, and all others I had looked at previously have went up in price! As a solo, female traveller, I have been left looking at mixed hostels, miles away from where I need, because of how this hotel have treated my booking.

Nice little hotel- interesting decor, clean and comfortable rooms, very warm in winter. Third floor room, road facing so a bit noisy from traffic. Bathroom had natural light and window, although shower had very poor water pressure. Breakfast fine and perfect location for tasty west end brunch options. Lots of stairs but a great view from room.

This charming hotel was perfect for our grand Scotland adventure. Stayed at 6 other hotels of similar price range during our 3 week adventure. This hotel felt like home. The staff was friendly and super helpful. The rooms were super clean and spacious with tall bright windows. The beds were so comfy that I wished I could have lounge in the mornings a bit longer. Being a designer, a nod to the interior designer. The decor is a spot-on. A blend of modern, meets old world. Breakfast is simple and nice, to get the day going. Location was perfect. Daughter was taking classes at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and son was doing a summer programme at the University of Glasgow.

Great staff, and I think this is It, I stayed 2 nights, to floor (3rd) without lift, facing the main road and with single glazed sash window, if you are looking for a quite place ask for backfacing rooms. the shower did not work properly and it's quite small! I've also had a small issue charging my phone because the power plugs were quite far from the bed.
