What a fantastic museum! Entry was by donation. The museum is full of interesting Ventnor history on a range of topics including famous people, local shops, railway history and war influence. My favourite exhibit was on the lady who lived in a rickety shack selling sweets and fighting the law! As a born islander I was surprised at how little local history I knew. I highly recommend a visit. The volunteers were very hospitable too.

We really enjoyed this. Some great enlarged old photos and lots of interesting nuggets of info on a range of different aspects of Ventnor's history. It has an old-fashioned, home-made feel to it - including a wooden till you are allowed to have a go on - which won't be everyone's taste but we really appreciated and it's only £2 to get in.

Turned up at Ventnor museum IOW at 12.55 on the 21/8/24 only to find they had already closed for the day, closing time being 1pm. A gentleman came to the door and I asked if I could just purchase a book, the answer was no but I could buy it online. I guess they had already cashed up as well. Won’t be going again and I’m a local.
