About Moss Grove Organic

Moss Grove Organic is a boutique guest house in the centre of Grasmere, built around a consistent organic ethos that runs from the wallpaper and paint used throughout the building to the breakfast served each morning. The property has been renovated with reclaimed and sustainably sourced materials, giving each of its rooms a distinct, individually designed character.

Breakfast draws heavily on local and organic Cumbrian producers, served in a communal dining area rather than a conventional hotel restaurant, and the small scale of the property means service is personal and informed by genuine local knowledge.

Its position in the heart of the village puts guests within a few minutes' walk of the church, the gingerbread shop and the lake shore, making a car largely unnecessary for exploring Grasmere itself.

We stayed at Moss Grove Organic for four nights in July, 2026. Firstly, the greatest positive about the hotel is service. Duncan and Lynett took care of us with excellent support. They were available and friendly. Secondly, the location is superb. Right in the city centre, Moss Grove is convenient to shops, restaurants, the footpaths, and landmarks. Another strong positive is the plentiful, healthy breakfasts, all home cooked. The room is comfortable but needs better furnishings. The couch is old and very low to the ground. The bed is also low. The third floor rooms have beams which need to be ducked under. The bathroom however is very spacious with a jacuzzi and shower both. This is a three star hotel at best.

Amazing hotel. Staff very friendly, can't do enough for you. Rooms are very spacious, lovely bath with Jacuzzi, fab power shower. Breakfast very nice, lots of cereals to choose from, also hot food if you prefer. Separate toaster for the GF ones. Nice balcony. We were in room 11. You just have to mind your head. Bed very comfy. Nice area with a chair and mirror to dry your hair etc. Hairdryer, shampoo and conditioner provided. All in all a fab hotel.

What a wonderful stay at Moss Grove. We were so lucky to have found this gem. The location is perfect and we felt so relaxed and well looked after. We stayed in room 1 so we could take our small dog . The room was spacious and smelt divine. We arrived late but check in was smooth and we were grateful for the selection of teas and biscuits. Breakfast was delicious and our only regret is that we should have stayed more than 2 nights - it was the perfect break and I slept so well! Thank you.
