About Guildford Manor Hotel & Spa
Guildford Manor Hotel & Spa occupies a Victorian manor house on Farnham Road, set in its own gardens on the western edge of the town, a short drive or taxi ride from the High Street and castle. The building's period features have been retained through refurbishment, giving the public rooms a more traditional character than the town centre's newer hotels.
The hotel's spa includes an indoor swimming pool, sauna and treatment rooms, making it a popular choice for guests wanting to combine a Guildford visit with some relaxation, and the on-site restaurant serves both residents and visiting diners. Bedrooms are spread across the main house and adjoining wings, with garden views from many rooms.
Its position just outside the town centre suits guests with a car who want a little more space and greenery than a purely central hotel, while remaining close enough for an easy trip into Guildford for the castle, cathedral and shops.

What guests say
There were some good parts to our stay, but unfortunately too many disappointing ones to justify the price. First impressions weren’t great. The welcome was cold and unfriendly, and we were surprised to be asked for a £50 per person deposit, something we’ve never experienced at a hotel before. We were also asked if we wanted to book dinner despite having already done so, although our reservation couldn’t initially be found. The room was comfortable enough but dated, didn’t feel particularly clean, and the pillows were rock hard. The robes we’d been promised weren’t there (although reception sorted this quickly). The Wi-Fi didn’t work on the top floor, the air conditioning also didn’t work, and the fan provided was covered in dust. The spa was a mixed bag. The pool was a good size but could have been cleaner, the hot tub had an obvious leak patched with a towel, the steam room was excellent, but the sauna wasn’t working and there was no one available to help. Our massages were another example of inconsistency. My partner’s treatment started late because there was nobody at spa reception and the room wasn’t ready. It was then interrupted (to look out the window at the rain!?), yet still finished on time, which felt poor value. Thankfully, my massage was excellent from start to finish. Dinner was the standout of the stay. Although the restaurant was initially deserted and we weren’t sure we were in the right place, the staff who eventually greeted us were attentive and the food was excellent. The wine, however, was expensive for what it was. The biggest disappointment was the night’s sleep. The walls were so thin we could hear every word of the conversation next door, and the rest… Breakfast was good, but we’d expected cooked-to-order table service based on the website rather than a buffet. The selection was decent, but the hash browns were undercooked, the eggs overdone, and there was no option for scrambled, poached or boiled eggs. Check-out was as disappointing as check-in: the same unfriendly service, no “How was your stay?”, no thank you, and no goodbye. Overall, this hotel felt overpriced and inconsistent. There are some genuinely good elements - particularly the dinner, the steam room and one of the massages - but they were overshadowed by poor customer service, maintenance issues and a lack of attention to detail. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

Have visited this lovely place a few times over the past few months with a number of friends for a Sunday afternoon meal. Cannot overemphasise the highly delicious and wide ranging menu. It was a group of 10 or more and we chose diffrent starters, mains and puddings all very tasty and beautifully presented. The menu caters for all palates with a wide variety of choices. The roasts are perfect and starters superb all in a gorgous setting. A must to visit! The service was impeccable. Thank you for looking after us so well.

We had a great stay in room 33. The room was clean. The staff were brilliant, attentive, friendly and welcoming. We loved using the pool and jacuzzi. The food was amazing too, both dinner and breakfast. Room, food and drink was all reasonably priced. Would Highly recommend.

Had a lovely time for our anniversary. Service is exceptional. Fenandes is a lovely guy, he is welcoming makes you feel at home. Has a smile on his face even when you see that he is busy. 5 stars to him. He made our stay wonderful. And Simo from the time we arrived by the reception to the dining experience perfect...all smiles. All I can say is perfecto...I can't fault anything about the service and how our needs were met. Not forgetting the food...the Chefs are doing a marvellous job...the food has flavour...vegetables are fresh..I used to think I hate broccoli..I think it was my cooking all along..every plate that I tasted was a new experience....delicious is an understament...I can't even find a word to describe how my tastebuds were activated....clean and classic dining area.Nice staff
